It wasn’t quite ‘standing room only’ up the hill at Holy Trinity last Sunday, but it came close.
Holy Trinity and St Paul’s Rothesay joined forces at the Collation of The Very Reverend Andrew Swift, Dean of Argyll and the Isles, as Rector of the linked charges, by the Right Reverend Kevin Pearson, Bishop.
The Lay teams of the two churches were also re-licensed.
It was certainly a cause for celebration. When Andrew first came to the charges it was as Priest in Charge, because neither church was deemed financially viable by the Province. Five years of hard work by everyone mean the charges are self-supporting and therefore able to appoint a Rector.
In true ‘Piskie’ style there were picturesque formalities upheld by worship and prayer, resounding music and a good party at the end.
