Holy Trinity 2 August 2015

On Sunday our gospel reading was Jesus declaring ‘I am the bread of life’. Dean Andrew explained that the crowds were following Jesus because they had been fed with the miraculous meal of the loaves and the fishes and they wanted more. Jesus criticises them and tells them not to work for food that perishes but food that endures for eternal life.

They ask what they must do to perform the works of God and Jesus’ response is that they must believe in the one that God sent. It seems too simple – the work of God is to believe in Jesus! It is as true for us today as it was for the followers in Jesus’ time. Jesus shows the very nature of God’s love for all. Faith is a gift from God. The work of God is belief in Jesus Christ- that is what saves, heals and restores.

We are looking forward to the next Ecumenical Service which will be held on Sunday 9th August at 7.00pm at the High Kirk.

Holy Trinity Book Group will be held in the Rectory at 2pm on Tuesday 11th August. Details of services and other activities at Holy Trinity are on our website www.holytrinitydunoon.co.uk.
