December 2016 – Experience the meaning of Christmas (Dunoon Grammar School)

S1 Explores the meaning of Christmas
(Dunoon Grammar School)

On Wednesday December 13, Sl pupils were given the opportunity to explore the real meaning of Christmas for themselves.

Experience Christmas is an interactive journey through the Christmas story and is a chance for the pupils to explore their own thoughts and feelings relating to the birth of Jesus.

The activity is made up of four stations, the message, the announcement, the promise and the journey.

The pupils learn about Mary’s encounter with the angel, Mary and Joseph’s journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem, the wise men and the gifts they brought, and finally about the shepherds being told of Jesus’ birth.

At the end the pupils gathered around the manger together to talk about their favourite part of the Experience and the meaning of the gift of Christ’s birth for Christians.

The Christmas Experience is organised every year by Rev Andrew Swift from Holy Trinity Church, along with help of Paul Beautyman and Connor Barclay from the EXP Project, Alan Wright from Dunoon Baptist Church, Di Tenant and Dinkie McEwan, who are both members of the Holy Trinity Church, and RMPS teachers from DGS.

The Experience was enjoyed by all and the local churches would like to thank Dunoon Grammar School for their continued support.
